2017 term 1

Welcome to the new year, we are starting with new laptops for the Multimedia lessons, HP Pro Book 430

We have also updated the IPADs to iPad Air 2. They will be allotted at 5 per room for grades prep to four and for the 1-to-1 program in the grade 5 and 6 classes.

We are also upgrading the software used to manage the IPADs using JAMF/Casper.

our current deadline for getting ipads into classrooms is 2nd week of March.

Term 4, 2016

At the start of the this term in Multimedia students finished thier Coding projects. The preps learned about Cybersafety, and continued Graphing and Coding with Beebots. They then worked on thier Alphabet book using projects in Kidpix 3D.

Grade 1 and 2 learned about Cybersafety,  and continued using scratch for their Coding component.

They used Padlet to reflect on their coding work. Padlet is a community blogging website, which they participated in aspart of thier communication component of multimedia.

Grade 1 and 2 then used the program 2Animate to create animations (cartoons).

Grade 3 and 4 learned about Cybersafety, continued using Gamemaker for their Coding. They then used Photostory3 for Windows to create a movie on their Inquiry unit “forces”.

Grade 5 and 6 learned about Cybersafety, and continued on thier web creation & robotics for their Coding. For communication students used the sschool’s Skype accounts to communicate via video chat.

They also created a movie on natural disasters using Movie-maker.

When finished students worked on thier ePortfolio, grade 6 students finished their eSmart digital licence. Extended students created 3D printed objects.

2016 Term 3

Grade Prep:

Students continued using  Infant Video Toolkit.  using the  2Graph and 2Question components.infantvt

As part of their coding lessons students used Notepad to create a HTML webpage incorporating a self portrait picture and the school’s Logo. They Also used Lego Mindstorms programming language to program Lego robots to assist in solving several problems.a-mr-v-webpage

2016 Term 2

Grade Prep:

The students used the program 2Start English. They develop vocabulary and sentences through exploratory screens, creative activities, stories and games with the aid of ICT to improve ICt skills. Each window is a different environment:

  • All About Me, The Classroom, Colours and Art, Numbers and Maths, Food and Dinner Times, Animals.

Grade 5 & 6

 

Students logged onto STILE and after watching the lesson videos Grade 5 spent their time answering the lesson questions Grade 6 were informed to do the same in their free time during the week or when at home. Grade 6 students were introduced to the eSmart website https://digitallicence.com.au/accounts/login/ where they logged in and discovered 8 ares of web safety that they will need to complete over a 3 month period in order to earn their Digital Licence to show they are good digital citizens.  DL_GeneralGuide_Student.69cc0172e657__1_

Students used the webcam  on their laptop to create a portrait photo and save it to a common folder.

Grade 5 & 6

2016 Term 1 – Week 3

Grade Prep (Foundation)

Grade Prep Filled in a Keyboard sheet by colouring in the keys that they use for logging on to the computer. During this time the teacher took portrait photographs of students for the creation of student log on cards.

Grade 1 & 2

Students visited the website https://www.esafety.gov.au/comic-book-capers/ and answered questions on being safe at home on computers. sybersmart 2

Grade 5 & 6

Students visited the website http://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/programs/bullystoppers/Documents/quiz_primary_standalone/index.html  then they visited a website called “Cybersmart Access”, where they will click the “games” button and complete the 4 areas of knowledge . 1. Pick your friends, 2. Crowd Surfing, 3. Drop Box and 4. Flip and fix.
