Week 11

Prep

Prep continue to use 2Start English, They have used the windows “about Me”, “Colours”, “Animals”, “Numbers” and “My School” . This week they used the window “Food”. They learned about food in storesand win a canteen. The ICT skills used are Mouse and keyboard use, creating, investigating and printing.

Grade 1&2

PUBLISHER – Students Create an Fold it designs and print them they fold them. Requires editing a template, Saving and printing. Favourites were the planes and origami cup

Grade 3&4

VOKI – Students type in a story (Assignment 2) which has a problem to solve and includes beginning, middle and end, in Voki including creating and saving an Avatar, to read their story.

Grade 5&6

EXCEL – Students (Assessment task 2) enter data, formulas both manual = cells and the sum Σ command, Printed data and printed graphs (charts). This week they used a small file in a spread sheet to use the usefulness of using formulas to create a document with an outcome – they created a multiplication table.

Week 10

Prep

Prep continue to use 2Start English, They have used the windows “about Me”, “Colours”, “Animals” and “My School” . This week they used the window “Numbers”. They learned about numbers and where they can be found. The ICT skills used are Mouse and keyboard use, creating, investigating and printing.

[Observation- 80% of preps can log on with the aid of their log on card. 3 preps can logon independently without the aid of their logon card.]

Grade 1&2

PUBLISHER – Students Create an award certificate. Requires editing a template, Saving and printing.

Grade 3&4

VOKI – Students type in a story (Assignment 1) how they get to school in Voki including creating and saving an Avatar, to read their story.

Grade 5&6

EXCEL – Students (Assessment task 1) enter data, formulas both manual = cells and the sum Σ command, Printed data and printed graphs (charts). This week they used a larger file in a spread sheet to better understand the reasoning and usefulness of using formulas.

week 9

Prep

Prep continue to use 2Start English, this week they used the window “Animals”. They learned about pets, farm and wild animals, the farm, zoo and wild habitat. The ICT skills used are Mouse and keyboard use, creating, investigating and printing.

Grade 1&2

PUBLISHER – Students create a birthday invitation of their choice, save and print.

Grade 3&4

VOKI – Students paste in a paragraph of their text from 3 weeks ago after creating an avatar of their choice. They save the recording.

Grade 5&6

EXCEL – Students open budget excel spreadsheet template, save it enter 39 formulas, working out when to use a maual formula and when to use the sum Σ command, they then create a graph.

Week 8

Prep

Prep continue to use 2Start English, They have used the windows “about Me” and “My School” . This week they used the window “Colours”. They learned about the art room, art, art galleries and art. The ICT skills used are Mouse and keyboard use, creating, investigating and printing.

Grade 1&2

PUBLISHER – Students who have not finished and printed their assessment task of a Halloween card work on their assessment card, other students create and print a greeting card of their choice.

Grade 3&4

VOKI – Students continue to familiarize themselves in Voki including creating and saving an Avatar, using the microphone, using the type pad, changing voices and changing country language.

Grade 5&6

EXCEL – Students have so far entered data, entered formulas both manual = cells and the sum Σ command, Printed data and printed graphs (charts). This week they learnt how to show and print the formulas and printing just a selection of the spread sheet.

Clubs  – Students attending clubs with Mr Van Taarling are participating in a technology and ICT project called “Terry Tower” [ a unit including the terry tower excel spreadsheet that was created by a joint Teleconference project between  Orrvale PS, Mooroopna Park PS, Shepparton East PS]. Students plan, create {build using straws, pins and masking tape a water tower} and test the tower to destruction. Which team will win, the strongest tower or the cheapest to build or somewhere in between. The excel spreadsheet uses the cost of the materials, the height of the tower and the amount of water it takes to destroy it and gives it a score. we will find out in the 5th club session.

Terry TowerIn the first week they renamed the excel spreadsheet and entered their group name in the software, they then created their draft plan. This week the copied their draft plan to a plan sheet and submitted a planning permit. they filled in a cheque for the permit fee and got the permit approved. They started building their tower.
