Term 4, week 1 – Internet safety

Grade Prep:

Students watched film clip “Lee & Kim’ cartoon on stranger danger on the internet” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nMUbHuffO8   They then discussed the safety issues as a whole class including the dangers, safety tips and where to seek help!

 

Grade 1 & 2:

Students watched film clip ABC’s of Safety at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMGDJIGmfbo They then discussed the safety issues as a whole class including the dangers, safety tips and where to seek help!

 

Grade 3 & 4:

Students watched film clip “Internet Safety for Kids” at:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMGDJIGmfbo They then discussed the safety issues as a whole class including the dangers, safety tips and where to seek help!

 

Grade 5 & 6:

Students watched film clip “Digital Citizenship” at: https://esafety.gov.au/education-resources/classroom-resources/digital-citizenship The class then used the “RESPECT ME DON’T SEXT ME” kit supplied by CASA (Centre Against Sexual Assault) and funded by Victorian Law Society. Discussing the Federal and State law and the roles of Victorian Police Branch “Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT)” and CASA. The students discussed the permanence of the digital footprint, the consequences of sexting both legal and emotional. Discussion on the motives of the characters involved and the different outcomes of sexting and avoidance of sexting.

Students then used the handout chatterbox on possible sexting outcomes, which they folded and when made used with fellow students. http://www.secasa.com.au/assets/Sexting/Chatterbox-v7.pdf
